How to Hide Likes on Facebook on Web Browser and Mobile
Want to keep your Facebook likes private? Whether you’re trying to clean up your digital footprint or just value your privacy, Facebook gives you the option to hide your likes—on both desktop and mobile. Here’s how to do it.
Why Hide Your Likes?
Hiding your likes is a smart move if:
- You want more privacy online.
- You don’t want people making assumptions based on your interests.
- You just prefer to keep your activity low-key.
Let’s break down how to do it, step by step.
On a Web Browser (Desktop or Laptop)
- Log in to Facebook
Go to facebook.com and log in. - Go to Your Profile
Click your profile picture or name in the top left corner. - Click on the “More” Tab
Under your cover photo, you’ll see tabs like Posts, About, Friends, and More. Click More, then select Likes. - Edit Privacy Settings
- Click the three-dot icon (•••) in the top right of your Likes section.
- Select Edit the Privacy of Your Likes.
- Choose Categories to Hide
You’ll see different categories (Books, Movies, TV Shows, etc.). Click the drop-down next to each and choose:- Only Me – completely private.
- Friends – only your friends can see.
- Custom – you control who sees what.
- Save Your Changes
That’s it—your likes are now hidden from public view.
On the Facebook Mobile App (iPhone & Android)
- Open the Facebook App
Make sure you’re logged in. - Tap Your Profile
Tap your profile picture or name to go to your profile page. - Scroll to Your Likes Section
Scroll down until you see Likes. If it’s not visible, tap See All About Info. - Edit Privacy of Likes
- Tap the pencil/edit icon next to Likes.
- Choose a category.
- Tap the audience selector icon (it might say Public, Friends, or Only Me).
- Change the setting to Only Me or any audience you prefer.
- Repeat for Other Categories
You’ll need to adjust each category one by one.
Extra Tip: Hide Reaction Counts on Posts
Want to go a step further and hide the like/reaction counts on posts you see or share? Facebook lets you do that too:
- Go to Settings & Privacy > Settings > Reaction Preferences
- Choose whether to hide counts on your posts or on posts from others
Final Thoughts
Facebook gives you more control than ever over your profile. Hiding your likes doesn’t just clean up your page—it puts you in control of how people see and interpret your interests. It takes just a few minutes to set up, and the peace of mind is worth it.
