How to Remove PIN at Login in Windows 11

Tired of typing a PIN every time you log in to your Windows 11 device? Whether you’re using your computer solo or just prefer a quicker boot-up, removing the PIN is simple—but the option can be a little buried.

Here’s a no-nonsense guide to removing your login PIN in Windows 11.

⚠️ First, Know This:

Before you remove your PIN, make sure you’ve got an alternative sign-in method set up—like a password or a fingerprint. Windows won’t let you remove all login options unless you completely disable sign-in security (which isn’t recommended).

Step-by-Step: How to Remove the PIN in Windows 11

1. Open Settings

  • Press Windows + I to open the Settings menu.

2. Go to Accounts

  • In the sidebar, click on Accounts.
  • Then click Sign-in options in the main panel.

3. Select PIN (Windows Hello)

  • Under the Ways to sign in section, click on PIN (Windows Hello).

4. Click “Remove”

  • Hit the Remove button.
  • A confirmation pop-up will appear—click Remove again.

5. Enter Your Microsoft Account Password

  • You’ll be asked to verify your identity by entering your account password.
  • Once you confirm, the PIN will be removed from your login options.

Want to Skip the Login Screen Entirely?

If you want to go straight to your desktop without entering any credentials, here’s how to auto-login:

1. Open the Run dialog

  • Press Windows + R, then type: netplwiz and hit Enter.

2. Disable Password Login

  • In the User Accounts window, uncheck the box that says:
“Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer.”

3. Enter Your Password

  • Click Apply, and you’ll be prompted to enter your account password one more time.
  • Hit OK, and that’s it—your PC will boot straight to the desktop.

Final Thoughts

Removing the PIN can make your login process faster, but don’t forget it lowers your device’s security. If you’re on a shared or portable machine, it’s safer to keep at least one login method active.
