2 Easy Ways to Add Fonts to Google Docs

Want to make your Google Docs stand out? Sometimes the default fonts just don’t cut it. Luckily, adding new fonts in Google Docs is fast and easy. Here are two simple ways to upgrade your document style:

1. Add Fonts Using Google Docs’ Built-In Font Menu

Google Docs actually offers way more fonts than you see by default. Here’s how to unlock them:

  1. Open your document in Google Docs.
  2. Click the font name at the top of the page (it probably says “Arial”).
  3. At the top of the font list, click “More fonts…”
  4. A new window will pop up. Browse or search for fonts you like.
  5. Click any font to add it to your list.
  6. When you’re done, click “OK.” The new fonts now appear in your main font menu.

That’s it—no downloads or plugins needed.

2. Use Add-ons to Access Even More Fonts

If Google’s built-in selection isn’t enough, you can get even more creative using free add-ons:

  1. Go to Extensions > Add-ons > Get add-ons.
  2. Search for “Extensis Fonts” (one of the most popular choices).
  3. Click to install and follow the prompts.
  4. Once installed, go to Extensions > Extensis Fonts > Start.
  5. A sidebar will appear with a huge library of fonts. Select any text in your document and click a font in the sidebar to apply it.

This opens up hundreds of font options with just a few clicks.

Final Tip

Remember, using too many wild fonts can make your document hard to read. Pick one or two that fit your style and keep things clean.
