How to Find Out How Much Space Your Apps Use on Windows

Is your computer running low on space? One of the biggest culprits is often unnecessary or oversized apps sitting quietly on your hard drive. If you want to clean up and reclaim storage, you first need to know which apps are hogging space. Here’s how to quickly check how much room your apps are taking up on Windows.

1. Open Windows Settings

Start by pressing the Windows key and I at the same time. This shortcut opens the Settings menu.

2. Go to Apps

In the Settings menu, look for the Apps section on the sidebar. Click it.

3. Select “Installed Apps” or “Apps & Features”

Depending on your version of Windows, you’ll either see Installed apps (Windows 11) or Apps & features (Windows 10). Click on that option.

4. Sort Apps by Size

Once you’re on the apps page, you’ll see a list of all your installed programs. Above the list, there’s an option to sort by different criteria. Select Size. This will reorder the list, putting the biggest apps at the top.

5. Check Each App’s Size

You’ll now see how much space each app is using, right next to its name. If you spot something you no longer need—especially if it’s taking up a lot of space—you can click it and hit Uninstall.

Bonus Tip: Disk Cleanup for Extra Space

If you want to free up even more room, try the built-in Disk Cleanup tool. Just type “Disk Cleanup” into your Start menu search, run the tool, and follow the prompts.

Staying on top of your storage keeps your PC running fast and smooth. Checking your apps’ sizes takes just a minute and can save you headaches down the road.
