How to Make Bubble Letters in Microsoft Word

Bubble letters make any document stand out—whether you’re creating a poster, flyer, or a fun project for kids. Microsoft Word doesn’t have a dedicated “bubble letter” font, but with a few simple tricks, you can create bold, outlined text that pops right off the page. Here’s how to do it.

Step 1: Open a New Document

Open Microsoft Word and start a new blank document.

Step 2: Insert WordArt

  1. Go to the Insert tab on the ribbon.
  2. Click WordArt (look for the blue slanted “A” icon).
  3. Choose a style. For bubble letters, pick one of the bold, simple options (usually the first or second in the list).

Step 3: Type Your Text

  1. A box will appear. Type the text you want in bubble letters.
  2. You can always adjust the size later, so don’t worry about font size yet.

Step 4: Choose a Bubble-Looking Font

  1. Highlight your WordArt text.
  2. In the Home tab, click the font dropdown.
  3. Choose a bold, rounded font for the best bubble effect. Good choices are Arial Black, Comic Sans MS, or Impact.
    • For even rounder letters, you can download free bubble fonts from sites like dafont.com, then install and use them in Word.

Step 5: Add an Outline (Optional but Recommended)

  1. Click on your WordArt text to select it.
  2. Go to Format (or Shape Format depending on your version).
  3. Look for Text Outline.
  4. Pick a color and set the outline weight (thickness). A thick black outline gives the real “bubble” look.

Step 6: Fill with Color (Optional)

  1. While your WordArt is still selected, click Text Fill.
  2. Pick any color you like for the inside of your bubble letters.

Step 7: Resize and Adjust

  • Drag the corners of the WordArt box to make your bubble letters as big as you need.
  • You can move and rotate the letters as well.

Step 8: Print or Save

Once you’re happy with your bubble letters, print your document or save it as a PDF for sharing.

Pro Tip: Using Custom Bubble Fonts

If you want extra style, try downloading a free bubble letter font online:

  • Go to dafont.com
  • Search for “bubble” or “comic” fonts
  • Download and install the font
  • Restart Word, and your new font will appear in the font list

That’s it! With these easy steps, you can make eye-catching bubble letters in Microsoft Word for any project. Have fun creating!
