Step-by-Step Guide to Change the Root Password

1. Log In to SolusVM

Start by logging into your SolusVM control panel. This is typically provided by your VPS hosting provider. Use your credentials to access your VPS dashboard.

2. Select Your VPS

Once logged in, you’ll see a list of your virtual servers. Click on the VPS where you want to change the root password.

3. Go to the ‘Root Password’ Tab

Inside the VPS management panel, find and click on the tab labeled “Root Password” (usually found in the side or top navigation menu).

4. Generate or Set a New Password

You have two options:

  • Auto-generate: Click the “Generate” button to create a strong, random password.
  • Manual entry: Type in your own secure password.

Tip: Use a combination of uppercase, lowercase, numbers, and symbols for better security.

5. Click ‘Change’

Once you’ve set your new password, hit the “Change” button. SolusVM will now update the root password for your VPS. This may take a few seconds.

6. Reboot Your VPS (if needed)

Some setups might require a reboot for the change to take full effect. If prompted or if you’re having trouble logging in, try restarting your VPS from the SolusVM panel.

Final Notes

  • After the password is changed, you can use SSH to log into your VPS with the new credentials.
  • Always store your new password in a secure password manager.
  • If the VPS becomes inaccessible after the change, use the Console Access option in SolusVM to troubleshoot.

Need Help?
If you run into issues or can’t log in even after the change, contact your hosting provider’s support team. They can help confirm whether the password was successfully updated.
