YouTube Music isn’t just for streaming—it also lets you upload your own songs and listen to them across your devices. If you have a personal music collection you want to keep in one place, uploading it to YouTube Music is a smart move. Here’s how to do it.
What You’ll Need
- A Google account
- A desktop computer (uploads aren’t supported from mobile devices)
- Your music files (MP3, FLAC, M4A, OGG, or WMA)
Step-by-Step Guide to Uploading Music
1. Go to YouTube Music on Your Browser
Open music.youtube.com in Google Chrome, Firefox, or any modern browser. Make sure you’re signed in to your Google account.
2. Click Your Profile Picture
In the top-right corner, click your profile picture. From the dropdown menu, select “Upload music”.
3. Select Your Files
A file browser window will pop up. Select the songs or albums you want to upload. You can upload multiple files at once.
Tip: You can also drag and drop music files directly into the browser window.
4. Wait for the Upload to Finish
Once your upload starts, you’ll see a progress bar. Depending on the size of your files and your internet speed, this might take a few minutes.
5. Access Your Uploaded Music
After the upload is done, your music will appear in the “Library” under the “Songs”, “Albums”, and “Artists” sections. You can now stream them just like any other music on the platform.
Key Things to Know
- YouTube Music lets you upload up to 100,000 songs.
- Uploaded music is private—only you can access it.
- Your uploads sync across devices where you’re logged into YouTube Music.
- Uploaded tracks can be added to playlists and downloaded for offline listening (with a YouTube Music Premium subscription).
Can You Upload from Mobile?
