1. Enable PowerToys & Workspaces

  • Download and install PowerToys from Microsoft’s official source.
  • Open PowerToys and activate the Workspaces module from the sidebar. (itdaily.com)

2. Open the Workspaces Editor

  • Either click “Launch editor” within the Workspaces settings or press the shortcut `⊞ Win + Ctrl + “ (backtick). (learn.microsoft.com)

3. Select and Edit a Workspace

  • In the editor, pick the workspace you’d like to tweak.
  • You’ll be taken into the edit view, where you can:
    • Remove apps you no longer need.
    • Manually adjust window positions using dropdowns.
    • Use “Launch & Edit” to preview the layout and re-capture it. (learn.microsoft.com)

4. Re-Capturing or Reverting

  • Re-capturing will reset everything—including CLI arguments and other settings—to match the current state.
  • If you don’t like the changes, you can revert back to the original layout. (learn.microsoft.com)

5. Add Command-Line Arguments (Optional)

  • Click each app’s dropdown to add CLI arguments—launch VS Code with a specific file, open Terminal with “Ubuntu” profile, or load preset URLs in your browser. (learn.microsoft.com)

6. Launch as Admin (Optional)

  • Enable “Launch as Admin” per-app if needed—but note there’s a known limitation: admin-launched apps might not reposition correctly yet. (learn.microsoft.com)

7. Save and Run It

  • Save your edits.
  • Optionally, create a desktop shortcut for quick launching.
  • You can pin this shortcut to your taskbar for one-click workspace activation. (learn.microsoft.com)
