How to Fix the Memory Integrity Is Off Issue on Windows 11

Memory Integrity is a security feature in Windows 11 that helps protect your PC from malware and other attacks by preventing malicious code from running. Sometimes, you’ll see a warning in Windows Security:
“Memory Integrity is Off. Your device may be vulnerable.”

Here’s how to turn Memory Integrity back on and fix common issues that stop it from enabling.

What Causes the Issue?

Memory Integrity, also known as Core Isolation, can’t be turned on if certain drivers or apps are incompatible. Windows will block the feature if it detects something that won’t play nice with Memory Integrity.

Step 1: Check for Incompatible Drivers

  1. Open Windows Security
    • Press Windows Key + S and type Windows Security. Open it.
  2. Go to Device Security
    • Click Device security in the sidebar.
  3. Open Core Isolation Details
    • Click Core isolation details under the “Core isolation” section.
  4. Look for Driver Warnings
    • If you see a list of incompatible drivers, note them down. Windows will often display the problem drivers here.

Step 2: Remove or Update Problematic Drivers

  • Visit the Manufacturer’s Website: Search for updated drivers for your device, especially for old hardware like audio adapters, network adapters, or printers.
  • Uninstall the Problem Driver:
    • Press Windows Key + X and select Device Manager.
    • Find the device using the outdated driver, right-click it, and select Uninstall device.
  • Restart Your PC.

Tip: If you use third-party driver tools, now’s the time to check for updates.

Step 3: Enable Memory Integrity

  1. Go back to Windows Security > Device Security > Core isolation details.
  2. Toggle Memory Integrity to “On”.
  3. Restart Your PC.

Step 4: Run Windows Update

Windows updates often include driver and security fixes.

  • Open Settings (Windows Key + I).
  • Go to Windows Update and click Check for updates.
  • Install any available updates and restart if prompted.

Step 5: Check for Legacy or Unsupported Hardware

Some very old hardware just won’t work with Memory Integrity. If you can’t update or remove the driver, you may have to replace the device or check with the manufacturer for compatibility.

Troubleshooting Tips

  • Blue Screen After Enabling? Go back into Safe Mode and turn off Memory Integrity.
  • No Incompatible Drivers Listed? Try running the free tool Autoruns from Microsoft to dig deeper.
  • Still Not Working? Contact your PC manufacturer or visit Microsoft’s support forums for advanced help.

Final Thoughts

Turning on Memory Integrity is an easy way to boost your Windows 11 security. Most issues come from old or incompatible drivers. If you follow the steps above, you can usually solve the problem in less than 30 minutes.

Keep your drivers up to date and check Windows Security regularly for best results.
