How to Move Chrome’s Address Bar to the Bottom on Android

If you’re using Chrome on Android and find it awkward to reach the address bar at the top—especially on larger phones—you’re not alone. While Google hasn’t made a permanent option to move it to the bottom, there’s a workaround using Chrome’s experimental flags.

This guide shows you how to move the Chrome address bar to the bottom of your screen.

⚠️ Note About Chrome Flags

Chrome flags are experimental features. They’re not guaranteed to be stable, and Google can remove them at any time. That said, many users successfully use them to tweak Chrome’s layout.

🚀 Step-by-Step: Move Chrome’s Address Bar to the Bottom

Step 1: Open Chrome Flags

  1. Open Chrome on your Android device.
  2. In the address bar, type:
chrome://flags
  1. Hit Enter.

Step 2: Search for “bottom”

In the search bar at the top, type:

chrome duet

This used to be called “Chrome Duet” or “Chrome Home” in older builds.

If it shows up, you’ll see an option called “Chrome Duet” or “Duet UI”.

Step 3: Enable the Feature

  1. Tap the dropdown menu next to the Duet/Bottom toolbar flag.
  2. Choose Enabled or Enabled – Home-Search-TabSwitcher (depending on what layout you prefer).
  3. Tap Relaunch at the bottom of the screen to restart Chrome.

Step 4: Check the New Layout

After Chrome restarts, the address bar and key buttons (tabs, search, home, etc.) should now appear at the bottom of the screen.

🛑 What If You Don’t See the Option?

Unfortunately, Google has phased out the Chrome Duet feature for many users and newer Chrome versions. If the flag isn’t available:

  • Try switching to Chrome Canary (a developer version of Chrome).
  • Or try alternative browsers like Vivaldi or Kiwi Browser—both support bottom address bars natively.

✅ Final Thoughts

While Google doesn’t currently offer an official, stable setting to move the Chrome address bar to the bottom, the Chrome Duet flag was a great workaround when it worked. For now, your best bet might be switching to a browser that prioritizes one-handed use.
