How to Remove Home From Settings on Windows 11 (Show System Settings By Default)

Windows 11 brought a fresh look to the Settings app, but not everyone loves the new “Home” page that appears when you first open Settings. Some users prefer to jump straight into the System settings instead. If you’re looking to skip the “Home” screen and make System settings show by default, here’s how to do it.

Why Skip the “Home” Page?

The new Home page in Windows 11 Settings highlights recommendations, quick links, and sometimes things you don’t need. For power users and anyone who prefers efficiency, this extra click can feel like a waste of time. Luckily, there’s a way to streamline your workflow.

How to Open System Settings by Default

Option 1: Use a Direct Shortcut

  1. Right-click on your Desktop
    Choose New > Shortcut.
  2. Enter This Location:
    ms-settings:system
    Click Next.
  3. Name Your Shortcut:
Give it a name like “System Settings”.
  4. Click Finish.
Now, whenever you use this shortcut, you’ll go straight to System settings—no more Home screen.

Bonus: Pin this shortcut to your Taskbar or Start menu for even faster access.

Option 2: Pin System Settings to Start

  1. Open Settings.
  2. Go to the System tab.
  3. Right-click on System in the sidebar or top menu (if available).
  4. Select Pin to Start (or right-click the Settings app in Start and adjust its properties).
  5. Now, you can click that Start menu pin to jump straight into System.

Option 3: Set a Custom Keyboard Shortcut

  1. Use the shortcut you created in Option 1.
  2. Right-click the new shortcut > Properties.
  3. In the Shortcut key field, press the keyboard combo you want (e.g., Ctrl+Alt+S).
  4. Click OK.

Pressing that key combo opens System settings directly.

Can You Completely Remove the Home Page?

Short answer:
Not currently, at least not through official Microsoft settings. Windows 11 doesn’t offer a built-in toggle to start Settings on System by default every time you open the app. But these shortcuts and workarounds give you the same result.

Wrapping Up

You can’t fully “remove” the Home page from Windows 11 Settings, but you can skip it with a shortcut, a Start menu pin, or a custom keyboard shortcut. It’s quick, easy, and saves you time.
